Selection of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong

Malaysia is not a monarchy but Malaysia has a Ruler or Yang di-Pertuan Agong. What is interesting and unique is the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is selected by the Conference of Rulers in the method and manner prescribed in the Third Schedule of the Federal Constitution and Regulations of the Council of Rulers.

Eligible Properties

Features a King qualifications to be appointed by the Conference of Rulers as the Yang di- Pertuan Agong : -

Only Kings can only be selected after the king gave assent to choose from ;
Only the Kings only able to vote ;
If a King could not leave the choice of the Council , A king shall be appointed by the King , and entitled to vote as a " proxy ";
Typically, the king 's most senior in terms of the rule should be selected . This rule is no longer applicable after all the King of the states have been selected to be the Yang di- Pertuan Agong . This round ended after His Highness the Sultan of Perak was appointed His Majesty the Yang di- Pertuan Agong IX;
After the new list called the list of restructured and is currently in use is based on the seniority of the state whose king was elected the King ( Yang di- Pertuan Agong first to ninth) in the Third Schedule of the Federal Constitution

Not Eligible Selected

The Constitution provides that an eligible King as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong unless: -

Raja is a minor;
King had been told of the Keeper of the Rulers that he does not intend selected, or
Rulers taken by secret ballot resolves that the King is not fit to carry out the functions Yang di-Pertuan Agong from infirmity of mind or body, or for any other reason. This ruling requires the vote of at least five members of the Council.

Initial Steps Before Election

Getting pleasure of meeting dates and Selection;
If a vacancy occurs in the office of the King and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong course selection must be made no later than four weeks from the date the vacancy occurs, and
Keeper of the Rulers' worship conditions apply to every King of pleasure whether he intends standing for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Remarks

Rulers do not intend selected shall inform in writing to the Keeper of the Rulers and the land will be put in place once the final nomination list at that time.

Selection proceedings

When the Conference of Rulers met to choose the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Speaker of the State although they are not members of the Council present. Selections are made by secret ballot and the ballot papers used are not numbered and marked with the same pen and ink. Then put in the ballot box. The ballot papers are destroyed in front of the Kings as soon as the poll results are announced. (Toasted / dirincih)

King of the youngest in terms of the rule and is not listed as a candidate for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong is selected to count the ballots together - similar to the Keeper of the King - the King. Selection Meeting, the only King - King, Keeper of the King - the King and the Assistant Secretary of the Council of the King - King only involved in the selection process.
